If the answers to the two above questions is "Yes" then the Cauvery Fishing Camp at Bheemeswari is definitely one of the best options to go for. Meandering through the beautiful woods of western ghats of Karnataka, the Majestic Cauvery provides wonderful options for adventure and peaceful relaxation for nature lovers. Located about 120 km from bangalore down the Kanakpura-Kollegal highway and run by Karnataka Tourism is the Bheemeswari Fishing Camp. On the Kanakpura-Kollegal highway, You have to turn off at Halagur, and go down the Halagur - Muttatti road. The road to the spot is pretty good and it takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to reach there from bangalore.
We visited the place on 18th of Jan 2014 and stayed in a log hut there for a night. The check in time is 12 noon and checkout is next day at 11 am. They have a planned activity package for day visitors as well. The stay and the food is fantastic there. The activities available there include Angling, Coracle Ride, Zip Lines, Trekking, Nature Walks, Bird Watching,River Rafting, Star Gazing, Ayurvedic Massages and Campfire and Barbecue in the evening to name the major ones. Note that even though, its called Cauvery Fishing Camp, yet as in all National forest Reserves, fishing is banned in this location as well.
The tariffs are a bit on the higher side but is worth the price for a splendid peaceful and serene experience. Here is the detail plan of activities for one night package:

The best time to visit the place is just after monsoon between August to November when the river is swollen and there is a greenery all around the forests. This time of the year is also the best one for bird and wildlife watching.
